【4/26Fri】海外講師WS ムーブメントリサーチwith Kai Tomioka from London
ロンドンよりKai Tomioka を招いての1日限定WS。
Kai Tomioka originally started in hip hop and street dance, before training in classical ballet at Central School of ballet, working with choreographers including Christopher Bruce, Sharon Watson (Phoenix dance theatre), Christopher Marney (new Adventures) and Richard Chappell. He then went on to complete his training At Northern School of contemporary Dance as part of the touring company VERVE, performing works by international choreographers such as Anton Lackey, Renaud Wiser, Efrosini Protopapa and Athina Vahla. He then joined 2Faced Dance company, touring both nationally and internationally as part of the companies triple bill, ‘RUN’, and their children’s piece ‘What the Moon Saw’.
Kai now works as a freelancer in London and is developing his own practice, combining both his foundations in classical ballet alongside his interests in urban dance styles, as well as exploring his cultural identities as half Japanese and half English, combining the two cultures through dance.
The Movement workshop will be divided into two halves, the technique, and the creation. The technique workshop will aim to push dancers and movers physicality. A class that will consist of various skills to widen your movement vocabulary, alongside focusing on dynamics through musicality. The enjoyment of play is very important, and we together as a group will learn how to challenge our bodies in various ways in order to open ourselves up to this play.
The Creation workshop will focus on the generating and creating of movement language and material. The key is collaboration, and that is what the creation will be all about. By combining Japanese and English dance styles and cultures, we will share in an open and explorative environment where we will work together to build this language and openly share and discuss what we think defines the two in a relaxed, collaborative space.
